How to Get Beeswax/ HoneyComb in Minecraft Without Stung

Bees are not only an essential part of the biodiversity on which we all depend for our survival in the real world, but also in the Minecraft world.

Minecraft Beeswax is a material that is obtained from bee nests and beehives.

Tools Required to Harvest Honeycombs

Shears

To Craft a pair of shears:

  • Open the 3 x 3 crafting grid.
  • Drop 1 iron ingot in the middle of the grid
  • Put another iron ingot in the bottom-left slot of Row 3.

How to get BeesWax in Minecraft

To get beeswax in Minecraft: You’ll need shears on a full bee nest or beehive.

Find the Bee Nest

Locate a Bee Nest with honey level 5 inside as you won’t be able to harvest honeycomb until it reaches the required level/ filled with honey.

Hint: When the Nest is full, you will find honey dripping out of it.

Place a Campfire underneath the Hive

If you directly shear the nest— it will cause the bees to become hostile and will start chasing and stinging you leading to instant damage and poisoning you for a few seconds.

So, you need to approach the Nest and light a fire directly below the Nest to calm the bees and stop them from attacking you.

Materials required to craft a campfire include – 3 sticks, 1 charcoal or coal, and 3 wood or logs.

  • Open the 3×3 crafting Grid
  • Place three logs in the third row of the crafting area of a crafting table.
  • Place a coal or charcoal in the middle cell of the 2nd Row
  • Drop sticks on either side of the coal/charcoal in the second row.
  • Put a stick in the middle cell of the first row, right above the coal or charcoal.

You have successfully crafted a Campfire.

Harvest the Honeycomb

Next, Set up a campfire within a five blocks clear radius below the hive with nothing blocking the between the hive and the campfire.

This way, you can also pacify multiple bee hives at once.

Approach the Nest and right-click with the shears on the bee nest.

It will grant you 3 beeswax and its honey level will fall to zero again. Honey starts oozing out of the hive in the same way water and lava drip.

Repeat the shearing process as many times as you need to gather all the Honeycomb.

To Harvest Honeycomb in Minecraft without Getting Stung: Place a campfire below the hive (within 5 blocks) and safely remove the honeycombs when the bees have been calmed down by the smoke. Alternatively, You can technically harvest beeswax while the bees are out without getting stung.

However, do that at your own risk as they can come back anytime and start attacking you.

Another option is to Get an enchanted tool with Silk Touch which allows you to directly grab the nest itself without destroying the bee nest or hive.

  • Get an enchanted book from either Villager Trading or a librarian villagers can also trade any enchanted book.
  • Take the enchanted book to an enchanting table and use it to enchant a tool with the Silk Touch enchantment.
