How to Make a Lava Door in Minecraft: Step-by-Step (with Pictures)

Lava Door is a Redstone door that rains down fire when it closes with the press of a button.

Here’s how Lava Door works – You will walk down a hallway and there is one button on each side. When you hit a button, the lava door will be activated. To pass the door, you need to hit the button again to reset.

  • Smooth Quartz Block
  • Sticky Pistons

Step 1: Place 10 Quartz Blocks

Put down Quartz Blocks with 2 pairs each on the ground for 5 Blocks.

Step 2: Put 2 Sticky Pistons

Place 2 Sticky Pistons on top of the Quartz Block

Step 3: Add Quartz Blocks on Top

Place blocks on top of the Pistons with the shape shown in the image above.

Extend two blocks in each direction with a hollow inside.

Step 4: Place 3 Sticky Pistons on Each

Put 3 Sticky Pistons on the last extending block opposite of each other.

Step 5: Make the Wall

Next, make your wall by placing Quartz Blocks opposite to each other.

Step 6: Add Buttons

You need to add buttons on the right side to control the door.

Step 7: Add Slabs to the Side

On the backside of the same block area that has the button installed, add some slabs to it.

Step 8: Put Wool Blocks for Redstone to Run

Next, create a wall by slapping wool blocks to it for the Redstone to run later.

Similar to the opposite side, place some wool on the top too.

Step 9: Cover the Pistons with Wool

Place some wool in front of the Pistons — one wool block on the top and one under.

Next, place a sticky Pistons facing upwards and a block next to it.

Step 11: Place Dispenser on the Top

Place the Dispenser to put lava into the door area and make sure they are pointing it to the door.

Step 11: Cover the Roof

Now, let’s make the roof by covering the remaining area with Quartz Blocks

On the right side, Place Redstone on all the available surfaces. (It is the side of the Button)

Step 12: Place Redstone on the Blue Wool Blocks

On the left side, Put Redstone only on the Blue Wool Blocks and link it with a Redstone to the Dispenser area along with a torch on the second and third wool blocks.

Put a Redstone Repeater just above the block.
