Yes, you can make a boat in Minecraft with any of the available wood granted that they are of the same type throughout (for example, you can’t mix and match Spruce with Acadia).

How to Make a Boat in Minecraft Java Edition

Steps to craft a boat:

Step 1: Open the Crafting Grid

First of all, Open your 3×3 crafting table ready to craft.

Step 2: Drop Spruce into the Grid

Drop 5 Spruce planks in the 3×3 crafting table.

• Fill up the 2nd Middle Row Grid with 1 Spruce Plank each.
• Put 1 Plank on the first row top right corner.
• Drop 1 Plank on the first row, top left corner.
• The middle box of the top row should be left empty

Step 3: Collect the Boat

Once you have arranged the planks in the correct order as mentioned above, a Spruce boat will appear.

Once you have crafted a Spruce boat, drag and drop the new item into your inventory.

• 5 Wood planks (you can use any type)
• 1 Wooden shovel

How to Craft a Boat in Bedrock Edition

Similar to Java Edition, place the Crafting grid on the ground.

Step 1: Open your 3×3 crafting table.

Step 2: Add Items to the Menu

The Bedrock edition is still the same as the Java version.

The only difference is that you need to add a wooden shovel in the middle space of the crafting grid.

• Put a Wooden Shovel in the middle of the top row.
• Fill up the 2nd Middle Row Grid with 1 Plank each.
• Put 1 Plank on the first row top right corner.
• On the first row, top left corner, drop 1 plank.

This method applies when you are making a Boat for Minecraft PE, Windows 10, Xbox, PS, Wii U, Nintendo Switch, and Education Edition.

Step 3: Move the Boat to Inventory

The final result will appear on the right side of the grid. Your newly crafted boat is ready for use.
