How to Make a Bunk Bed on Minecraft: Step-by-Step (With Pictures)
Minecraft Bunk Beds are furniture consisting of two beds, one-bed frame stacked on top of another that form a unit.
Avatars can sleep using a bed at night to automatically skip to dawn or sleep off a Rainstorm.
Similar to real life, you need a Bed to sleep which is activated when you interact with a Bed.
In this tutorial, I will guide you on how to make a Minecraft Bunk Bed with step-by-step instructions.
Materials to Make Minecraft Bunk Bed
- Bed
- Dark Oak Wood
- Dark Oak Slabs
- Dark Oak Stairs
- Snow Blocks
- Ladders
- Snow Slabs
- 2 Wall Blocks (Different Colours each)
- Carpet

How to Make a Bunk Bed on Minecraft
Tutorial to make Bunk Bed on Minecraft
Step 1: Find a Place to Build the Bunk Bed

Decide upon a place, Either it’s your house or any place you would like to build the bed structure.
Step 2: Place Dark Oak Wood

Put down 1 Dark Oak Wood on the ground and one on the other side with 3 block gaps.
Next, Place a 5 Blocks gap and put down 1 Dark Oak Wood. Follow the same for the other side too.
Step 3: Build up the Frame

You need to build up vertically 5 blocks each from the original place-down blocks.
Now, we have built the frame for our Bunk beds.
You can continue adding the inner parts of the structure to make it look like a Bed.
Step 4: Put Upside Down Stair

Place 1 Upside downstairs on each side leaving a space in the middle for now.
Insert 3 Dark Oak Slabs on top of it to make the bottom of the bed.
Step 5: Place Slabs on the top of the bed

Next, Place 2 Dark Oak Slabs each on the top of the bed to make the same height as the bottom of the bed in Step 2.
Step 6: Build 3 Upside Down Stairs

Place 3 Upside Downstairs on top of the bed above the Dark Oak Slabs.
Step 7: Place Stair on the Side

Place a Regular Stair on the side and turn to place a stair.
Follow the same process for the other side too.
Fill up the middle gap in the center with a Dark Oak Wood Slab.
Step 8: Fill the inside with Snow

On the top side of the bed, Place Snow Blocks inside the bunk bed and top it with Snow slabs for pillows.
For the rest of the bed, place the Wall Blocks you have chosen inside. (Use different colors). In this case, it’s light blue and dark blue.
Step 9: Put the Bed Inside

Leave a 2 Blocks Space in the center to put the bed inside. Select your carpet and cover up the bed.
Step 10: Place Upside Downstairs (for the top bunk)


Put an Upside Down stairs sidewards and continue the same for the other side.
Place 3 more Upside downstairs just on top of that and slabs above it to make the structure for the top bunk.
Step 10: Half Slab to the End




Head to the other side and from the small gap in between place a half slab to it all the way to the end.
Fill up the remaining space with slabs to make the top bed.
Step 11: Put 2 Slabs and Upside Down Stairs on the Top

Similar to the below bed, place 2 slabs each and Upsidedown stairs just above that.
Step 12: Place Stair and Turn on the Inside

For the side, follow the same process as step 7 for both sides.
Step 13: Insert Upside Down Stairs for Support

Place 1 Upside Downstairs each on all corners of the bed.
Step 14: Fill up the Snow

Fill up the inside of the bed with Snow and Snow slabs for Pillow.
Create a gap in the center and fill the rest with blocks.
Step 15: Place the Bed inside the gap


Inside the gap, place the bed from the inventory and cover it with carpet.
Step 16: Place a Ladder

Select the ladder from the inventory and place it on one side all the way up to the top of the bed to climb.
There you have it, you have successfully constructed a working Bunk Bed in Minecraft.

Variations of Bunk Bed In Minecraft
There are many designs and Variations of beds one can make in the Minecraft world.
You can use different woods, designs, and decorations to make your designs appealing according to your wants and choices.
- Experiment with different wood blocks, planks
- Select different bed colors to see which suits best for you.
- Use varied ladders designs
- Add decor – eg. plants for more personalization.
It’s quite nifty. Not the simplest furniture to make. It’s a bit cumbersome and required more effort to make than a regular bed, but it is certainly one to have in your home.
